Suma Systems Limited is the data controller for all personal data collected and processed through the use of our platform. By using Suma services, you are consenting to the collection and processing of your personal information as described in this privacy statement.
Information we collect as you use our services and the legal basis for collecting and processing it.
Your name, phone number, email address:
We use this information to identify you and to communicate with you in relation to Suma services.
For riders: Additional information is collected, including: photo, national ID, and information about vehicle/motor, licensing, insurance and criminal records. We collect this information for legal compliance and for fraud detection and prevention.
Your contacts list:
We collect this information from your phone’s phone book and may store it in your account on our database. This information is collected to help us find and show you other people in your contacts list who use Suma. However, we only store this information when you opt to restrict access to your account to only the contacts on your phone. When we do store your contacts list, we only store the phone numbers. No other details such as names or emails are stored along with the phone numbers. This helps us know which users (phone numbers) to make your account visible to.
Your Geo-location information:
We collect this information from your GPS, IP address, wifi access points and cell towers. This information will enable us to find and connect you with other users of Suma services, and to provide you with features like finding the nearest user, suitable routes, standardised cost, and tracking your package.
Your device information:
We use information about your device to analyse performance, enhance functionality, fix errors, and improve your experience with Suma services. The information we collect includes device type and settings, operating system, application version, interaction of your apps with our service, IP address, crash reports, network operators, date and time.
Your activity on the app:
We process information about user activity on Suma platform to enable us personalise user experience on the platform, and for the purposes of research and development.
Your privacy controls
We are happy to put you in control of how we collect and process your personal information. We offer specific privacy settings on our platform which gives you the opportunity to update, manage or delete the information you transmit to us, including: pick up location privacy, contacts list, usage history, account deletion. These settings may affect user experience on the Suma platform.
Security of your information
You are trusting us with your personal information. We assure you that we will protect your information transmitted to us through the use of our services.
All personal data collected in the course of providing services is transferred to and stored in the data centres of Suma Systems Limited. Only authorised employees of Suma Systems Limited have access to the data and they may access the data only for the purpose of resolving issues associated with the use of the services (including disputes regarding delivery of packages on the platform). Employees of Suma Systems Limited and partners can access personal data to the extent necessary to provide customer support to users.
Data Sharing and disclosure
The following data may be shared among users in a transaction: name, phone number, pickup locations, image.
Photo, Car/motor make, colour, license number, length of use, ratings, and any other specific information relating to the trip/transaction.
Suma reserves the right to disclose any information we have as required by law and when we believe that access, use, preservation, or disclosure is necessary to;
- Comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, enforceable government request, or legal process.
- Detect, prevent or address fraud, security or technical issues.
- Protect the rights, property or safety of Suma, our users, or the public as required or permitted by law
Data retention and deletion
Suma maintains personal information for as long as the user maintains their account on the platform. Upon receipt of a deletion request, Suma will delete data that is not required to be retained for the purpose of insurance, tax, litigation, or other legal requirements. Suma may retain certain data after receiving a deletion request if necessary, for example, in cases of an outstanding dispute, fraud, or for research and development purposes.
Suma reserves the right to modify this privacy statement at any time and without prior notice. We will notify you of any updates to this privacy statement by posting the changes on our platform. We may notify you by email if the update is deemed significant. All updates become effective immediately upon being posted on our platform unless otherwise stated, and by continuing to use our services after any updates to our privacy statement, you consent to the updates.
